Asset-System is a web application developed for the accounting department to automate the calculation of asset depreciation. It was created to ensure accurate tax filings and reduce manual workload. Previously, the team relied on Excel to perform these calculations manually, which was time-consuming and prone to human error.
The previous depreciation workflow relied heavily on Excel spreadsheets, which required manual input, formula setup, and frequent cross-checks. This approach was time-consuming, error-prone, and made it difficult to maintain consistency—especially during tax season when accuracy and timing are critical.
To address these challenges, I developed a web-based system that automatically calculates asset depreciation based on asset type, purchase date, and accounting rules. Built with Flask (Python), SQL Server, and other supporting tools, the system enables accountants to input and manage asset data efficiently, generate real-time reports, and instantly export tax-ready summaries. This automation reduced manual workload by over 80% and significantly improved accuracy in financial reporting.
